Caution suggested over new “autism blood test”

The BBC reports on a study which suggests that it may be possible to develop a blood and urine test to diagnose autism. The research, published in Molecular Autism, examined chemical differences in the blood and urine of autistic and neurotypical children and suggests that they could be used to develop a diagnostic test. The article highlights concerns from other researchers, including Autistica, who state that it is too early to suggest that this test could be used to diagnose autism.
