Edinburgh Airport has become the first airport in Scotland to receive the Autism Friendly Award from the National Autistic Society, The Edinburgh Reporters writes. The airport has put in place a series of measures to make it more accessible to autistic people, these include:
- autism training for staff
- a social story to hep children prepare for their journey
- visits prior to travelling to help autistic people familiarise themselves with the environment
- discreet lanyards and pin badges to help staff identify travellers with hidden disabilities including autism
More information on the help provided can be found on the airport's website.
