Raising awareness of autism on public transport

Claire Lindsey, an autistic woman, explains her difficulties travelling on the Tube in this article published by i. Because of her sensory difficulties and anxiety, it can take days to plan for a journey and she often gives up. She says that lack of awareness of autism makes it difficult for others to understand why she might need help. She adds that using the new Transport for London's Please Offer Me A Seat Badge has helped making people aware that she might need help and given her more confidence, but more could be done by reducing noise pollution, making stations easier to navigate and staff being more aware and approachable.
