Warnings over lack of support for autistic people

The Guardian reports that a coroner in Somerset has written to the health secretary to raise concerns about a lack of suitable accommodation for autistic adults, after a man with a diagnosis of Asperger syndrome died by suicide. Due to a lack of suitable supported accommodation the man had been in psychiatric care until a care home was found, but staff there had no autism training. The coroner’s report said that a series of shortcomings and issues had contributed to the man’s death.
