Ideas to support autistic children during shopping trips

Hi all

Asda have introduced a new initiative to make shopping trips less stressful for autistic children. The "Happy Little Helpers" game features symbols and pictures of items such as bread, milk etc, and the children can "tick" the items off once they have been added to the trolly. The game aims to keep children engaged and focused, making trips to the supermarket feel less overwhelming. It was developed by an Asda employee who is also the parent of an autistic child.

We would love to know of any other approaches that are useful for autistic children and adults when out in environments such as supermarkets.

Thanks,

Chris
