More children with SEN being home-educated

Hi

The BBC is reporting that there has been 57% rise in home-education over the past 5 years for children with special educational needs in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. They speak with one parent who took her 11 year old autistic daughter out of school due to the high levels of anxiety and stress she was experiencing. In the article Nasen suggest that some schools are unable to provide the right support for SEN pupils due to budgetary constraints and performance measures.

We'd be really interested to hear your views on this - have you also seen an increase in home-education in your area? If so, what do you think are the reasons behind the rise?

Thanks,

Chris
