Autism and ageing: interview with Prof Carol Walker and Susanne Larcombe

Carol Walker is Emerita Professor of Social Policy at the University of Lincoln and has written extensively on learning disability, in particular in relation to ageing. Susanne Larcombe manages residential and day services for autistic adults and contributed to the National Autistic Society’s ageing with autism project. 

Carol and Susanne kindly agreed to be interviewed for Network Autism when they attended the NAS Professional conference in March this year. We asked them a series of questions: you can view the full interview or clips of the individual questions below.

1. Can you tell us how you first became interested in autism and about your current work?

4. How can services be improved to meet the needs of older autistic adults in both residential services and in the community?

​5. There is very little in the way of research, support or guidance for supporting older autistic people. What would you like to see change and develop in this area?
