Autism and ageing in the United States

An article in Psychology Today by John Elder Robison discusses the lack of data on autism prevalence rates and outcomes for autistic adults in the United States. He highlights concerns about early mortality rates and high unemployment figures for autistic adults, and looks at the reasons why there may be little incentive for adults to seek an autism assessment. John highlights the continued use of ABA therapy for autistic children, despite a lack of support amongst autistic adults, suggests we need more data to inform and drive change in services and support for autistic people of all ages.
