Autism guidance for social workers

Community Care reports that the British Association of Social Workers (BASW) has produced Government-commissioned guidance for social workers who work with autistic adults. The guidance aims to improve understanding and knowledge of autism, and has been developed in partnership with autistic adults. Key issues addressed by the guidance include using a strengths-based approach when working with autistic adults, better preparation for home visits to minimise anxiety, and social workers role in enabling and supporting self-advocacy for autistic adults.
