Calls for autism-specific schooling in Northern Ireland

A 12 year old autistic boy has not been to school for 5 years, reports BBC Northern Ireland. The report discusses why the boy’s mother felt mainstream and special school education were not suitable for her son. It highlights calls for more autism-specific schooling in Northern Ireland to meet the needs of autistic pupils.

Milo and the Robots4Autism curriculum has been in use in schools across Canada, the US, Australia, and Europe for several years now and has proved extremely effective in helping learners with ASD learn to self regulate and recognize emotions in themselves and others. Milo is the world's most advanced facially-expressive robot and the Robots4Autism curriculum has been created by Harvard-trained autism professionals. The result is that half of all students who spend time with Milo experience a life-changing impact within the first 4-6 months. I would love to see Milo being put to use in Ireland.
