Early autism interventions and neurodiversity

DART features a blog exploring whether early autism interventions can ever be compatible with the principles of neurodiversity. Sue Fletcher-Watson looks at some of the arguments that have been given in favour of adopting early interventions for young autistic children, such as preparing them for school environments. The blog sets out four solutions which may merge early interventions with neurodiversity: strength-based support and measurement; modelling interventions on autistic learning and play; autistic-led targets and outcome measures; and a focus on the external environment.
