Family demands inquest into death of autistic woman

The Guardian reports that the family of an autistic woman who died in a road traffic accident are asking for a full inquest into her death, as they believe there were failings in her care by the care provider. Colette MCCulloch was 33 when she was diagnosed as autistic, and she died two years later despite showing behaviour that was self-harming and dangerous. The article highlights research by Autistica into the premature deaths of autistic people, and includes calls from the National Autistic Society for a full investigation into Colette’s death.
