New resources to prevent exclusion of autistic pupils from school

The National Autistic Society (NAS) has produced new resources for The Autism Education Trust to assist education professionals in supporting autistic pupils and avoid exclusion from school. Autistic pupils are three times more likely to be excluded from school than pupils with no special educational needs. The resources aim to encourage better understanding of the different behavioursĀ of autistic pupils at school, inform teachers on best practice for a successful reintegration after an exclusion and offer advice on how to support autistic children and young people who do no meet the criteria for an Education, Health and Care Plan, but still need additional support. There is also information for parents and governors.
