Rise in home-education for children with SEN

The BBC reports that the numbers of children with special educational needs being home-educated has grown by 57% in the past five years in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The article looks at the experience of an 11 year old girl with a diagnosis of autism and ADHD, who is home-educated after experiencing stress and anxiety in her local school. The charity Nasen suggests that pressures on performance and budgets mean some schools are struggling to be inclusive, and many parents think they have no option but to home-educate.
