Supporting adopted children with additional needs

The Council for Disabled Children have published a report examining the experiences of adoptive parents whose child had an unidentified additional support need. The report looks at the experiences of adoptive parents and also the professionals who support them, suggesting that adverse early life experiences can impact on a child’s health and development and make additional support needs more difficult to identify. It also looks at the support given to adoptive parents and highlights a number of areas for improvement.
