Surf therapy for autistic young people

The BBC reports on an organisation which offers surf therapy to children and young adults with additional support needs, some of whom are autistic. The reports includes an interview with Layla, an autistic young adult who explains why surfing has boosted her confidence and supported her to become more independent. The organisation who offer this approach, the Wave Project, suggest that surf therapy can reduce anxiety by offering exercise, friendship and peer mentoring.
