Autistic Not Weird have published the results of a survey of people’s attitudes to, and experiences of, autism. Over 11k people responded to the survey, with nearly 50% having a diagnosis of autism or thinking they may be autistic. Some of the findings include:
- 98% of respondents felt the public didn’t understand autism
- 88% felt that autism awareness focused too much on children
- 60% of autistic respondents experience anxiety.
