Autism/Asperger's and Fibromyalgia

I'm an assistant psychologist and in the practice where I work we have begun to notice a pattern  of people, more often women, who have an ASD and either they or another family member in their direct line (e.g. grandparent, child) also has an ASD, and Fibromyalgia. I started doing some research about a possible link, and while there is precious little published work, there seem to be many people experiencing both in their family line. Some research suggests that it may be that both are related to particular genetic differences, like Fragile X syndrome.

Has anyone else noticed this link? Does anyone have both in their family?

I am an autistic adult of 56 (diagnosed with autism at the age of 51) and approx 3 years after my autism diagnosed, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia.

Yes, there is a link with fibromyalgia and autism.

I have depression and anxiety and take medication, to help me cope with my symptoms.  My fibromyalgia has worsened and I have noticed that I am getting more coughs colds which last much longer and I am also susceptible greatly affected by infected blocked sinuses.

My 19 year old son has Aspergers and Eds both diagnosed, during his diagnosis of EDS the Professor suggested that his EDS had came from me genetically. I am currently awaiting a Geneticist referral for a diagnosis, but have also been given a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia. Strangely I have always sensed that I may be on the spectrum and have also been referred for assessment. If you are still organising any research my son and I would be very interested in taking part.
