Pathological demand avoidance survey results

1 reply (Jump to last post)

Hi all

Earlier this year the PDA Society carried out a survey on the topic of pathological demand avoidance (PDA) with parents of autistic children, autistic adults and professionals.

The survey explored experiences around difficulties, diagnosis, how health and education services were helping or not, and the impact on family. The report suggests that a lack of understanding of the needs of those who identify as having a PDA profile is a barrier to support, and includes recommendations for local authorities on how to improve services and support.

Thanks,

Chris

It would help if the National Autistic Society would get behind the push for formal recognition UK-wide of PDA as an ASD subtype.  There is a current petition which would be good for NAS to support and promote: https://www.change.org/p/dr-robert-jakob-who-write-pathological-demand-a...

PDA petitions keep cropping up across the UK on different petition sites. As the largest UK national autism charity, NAS support behind the above petition would really help families.
