Transforming Care Partnerships campaign guidance

The National Autistic Society, Mencap and the Challenging Behaviour Foundation have jointly produced a guide for people in England campaigning for an autistic person, those with a learning disability and/or challenging behaviour to get out of an inpatient unit.

The guide, Making it Happen, explains what Transforming Care Partnerships are and what they should be doing to reduce the number of people in inpatient units.

It outlines some campaign options:

  • contact local Transforming Care Partnerships
  • check what local plans have been created
  • get involved in delivering local plans
  • work with local forum groups
  • check local progress.

The guide includes a template letter that can be used to ask Partnerships what plans are being developed, and a checklist to measure how services and support are performing.

You can download a copy of the guide here.
