Does terminology matter?

1 reply (Jump to last post)

We have all been thinking about terminology lately and people’s preferences around language. How do people feel about the terms ‘challenging behaviour’ or ‘behaviour that challenges’? Does how we talk about behaviour influence how we understand and respond to it?

On our courses, we’re trying to talk more about what are people’s stress support needs.

This is a good little book to look at - to start thinking about how we seebehaviour - https://www.pavpub.com/10-rules-for-challenging-behaviour/

I'd say also trying to listen to people like Peter Vermeulen, Luke Beardon and Geoff Evans is a good starting point - also looking at Studio III and Andy McDonnell and some of his informtaion - as he definitley talks about how you need to look at your own behaviour when supporting others.
